Who would have thought that our sprinkler irrigation times would be affected by regular Load Shedding? For many years our sprinklers, from one end of Steenbok Park to the other, were programmed to come on during a regular cycle from 2:00 to 5:00 in the early mornings and no one was inconvenienced.
However in recent weeks we have found that certain new load shedding times clashed with our irrigation cycle times. We have thus moved our irrigation cycle times from 8:00 to 11:00 in the evenings. Apologies to those who walk at this time and feel inconvenienced. When appropriate we will change back to the middle of the night.
Furthermore we need to acknowledge that the sprinkler system, when operational, has in the past months been operating at only 60%. Like ESKOM we have and are busy with remedial action and plan to have it restored to 100% efficiency. We will report on this saga once we have again achieved 100% efficiency. We are fully aware that the breakdowns could not have come at a worse time when Steenbok vegetation is crying out for cooler days and return to normal rains.
