“Open vistas, wide skies, a feeling of space, and varied views within and beyond the park” is listed in the Steenbok Landscape Management Program as our foremost attribute. This is being achieved with the recently commenced annual pruning and removal of aggressive species such as Chrysanthemoides monilifera and Searsia crenata, with the assistance of Ivy Garden Services. This process will continue in the month ahead with removal of smaller species such as Nidorella ivifolia and a number of different aliens which are found in the grasslands.
A tree was removed from the edge of the Tow Path as it was endangering the integrity of the sea wall. This overgrown area has also been a troublespot regarding litter, and now with the clearing it will be easier to manage and keep clean.
