The Reserve is a wonderful place to experience our natural environment and enjoy some spontaneous outdoor activities.
Every Sunday at 9am social touch rugby is played on the Common and the group welcomes anyone interested in joining in. Something to look out for during the winter school holidays. This group was started by Andrew Campbell a couple of years ago and it’s a treat to see kids playing on this natural sports field.
Rain or shine, you can always expect to cross paths with friendly dog walkers, keen fishermen and a stroller or two.
Steenbok is also an age-friendly environment, and the ladies from Leisure Gardens love their sunny mornings along the Tow Path.
Another popular area is the Salt Marsh and Boardwalk near the Tow Path. This is a great location for the environmental enthusiasts. The informative signage along the boardwalk invites visitors to enjoy the experience of this valuable area while learning about the interesting flora and fauna that is found among the wetlands of our Lagoon.
Steenbok Nature Reserve remains open during Alert Level 2 lockdown.
