Senecio pterophorus

Senecio is a large genus of annual or perennial herbs, shrubs, small trees and vines classified within the daisy family.

This robust annual or short lived perennial shrub can grow up to 2m. The leaves are oblanceolate (meaning they have a rounded tips and tapered base) are are coarsely toothed. The flower heads are carried on terminal corymbs : the flowers are growing in such a way that the outermost are borne on longer stalks than the inner, bringing all flowers up to a common level.

This shrub is a pioneer of disturbed slopes.
