Cyrtanthus sanguineus

Bulbous geophyte producing one or two remarkably striking scarlet flowers on a stem up to 30cm long. These flowers are accompanied by 1 to 4 narrow, dark green, strap-like leaves. The bulbs are unexpectedly large, being 10cm in diameter when they reach flowering size.

Found from Bathurst to central KwaZulu-Natal.
