Barleria obtusa
Evergreen and fast growing sprawling shrub, indigenous to Eastern Cape.
Usually around 1m in height but it can reach 2m if planted in shade. The green leaves are covered with fine translucent hairs and the entire margins that are upturned.
Barleria obtusa gives a spectacular autumn display of masses of dainty flowers (2-3cm wide) which are carried on the top part of the branch. The seed capsule becomes woody when reaching maturity, exploding and releasing the seeds on the ground.
