
Aloe arborescens
This is a fast growing, multi-stemmed and densed rounded shrub. The leaves are grey-green and the margins are toothed. Each stem developping into an attractive inflorescence during the winter months with bright orange-red flowers. The flower colour can range from deep orange (which is the most common colour), but there are also pure yellow forms, and an unusual bi-coloured form of deep orange (almost red) and yellow.
Extracts of the leaves have been found to have wound-healing, anti-inflammatory, anti-ulcer, anti-bacterial, anti-diabetic effects as well as being an excellent remedy for burns. This plant attracts birds, butterflies and bees.
