Previously known as Knysna Lourie. Green bird with long tail, erectile white-tipped crest, short red bill, black, white and red marks around eye. In flight shows conspicuous crimson patches on underside of wings. Voice: loud harsh ‘knorr’ notes. Active in treetops, running along branches. Sometimes comes to ground to feed on fallen fruit. Drinks regularly. Strongly territorial.
