A large swallow, blue and buff, with chestnut cap and rump. Underparts streaked. Forages over land and water often with other swallows and swifts. Common in summer over Leisure Isle. Nests on buildings. Nest is a bowl with a tunnel made of mud pellets. Often seen gathering mud at puddles along the sea wall.
