Long decurved black bill and longish black legs. Upper parts pale grey brown, underparts white. Nests in small area of northern Russia /central Siberia. Non-breeding habitat: intertidal mudflats and muddy wetland fringes. Gregarious, often in large flocks, mixing freely with other small waders. On Leisure Isle may occur in summer at low tide in the Kingfisher Creek area.
