A plain brown ibis with greenish metallic gloss on back and upper wings. Normally calls at take-off and in flight, ‘Haa-haa-de-dah’ or ‘waaa’. Forages for food by probing ground with long curved bill. Birds leave roost noisily at dawn, returning at sunset.
